Reconstructive Surgery

Reconstructive surgery focuses on restoring bodily form, function and appearance following disease, surgery or tissue damage. Every patient’s condition and needs are different, so treatment begins with a careful assessment and an individualised plan. NGI provides reconstructive care relating to skin cancer, breast cancer and chronic scarring, with an emphasis on appropriate treatment, patient comfort and positive long-term outcomes.

The areas in which we offer reconstructive surgery are:

Skin Cancer

Skin cancer is an increasing concern, particularly in countries with high levels of sun exposure. It may initially appear as a small or inconspicuous lesion but can damage surrounding tissue if left untreated. Both pigmented and non-pigmented skin cancers require careful assessment, with early detection providing the best opportunity for effective treatment. NGI offers thorough evaluation and an individualised treatment plan aimed at achieving sound medical and aesthetically pleasing outcomes.

Breast Cancer

Breast cancer treatment may result in changes to breast volume, shape and symmetry following the removal of a tumour. Reconstructive surgery can help restore a more balanced appearance and support the patient’s long-term recovery and wellbeing. Depending on the patient’s circumstances, reconstruction may use the patient’s own tissue, a prosthetic implant or a combination of both. Each option is carefully considered to develop an appropriate treatment plan for the individual.

Chronic Scarring

Scar tissue forms naturally when the body heals after injury or surgery, but some scars may become physically uncomfortable, visually prominent or restrictive. The final appearance of a scar is influenced by factors including the injury, its location, skin type, genetics and treatment. Because scar maturation can take approximately 12 months, careful wound closure, ongoing monitoring and appropriate scar-management techniques may help improve comfort, mobility and the final long-term appearance.
